RE3: IGNITING ECONOMIC RECOVERY FOR WOMEN-LED BUSINESSES
July 17, 2020
The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on businesses and communities across the country. From the outset, the Government of Canada has taken action to support sectors affected by the pandemic, including through the $962 million Regional Relief and Recovery Fund (RRRF), launched on May 13, 2020.
Women-led businesses often face unique challenges, which have been amplified by the impacts of COVID-19 on our economy. With systemic barriers to growth, compounded by the financial hardships of COVID-19, the path to re-opening can be challenging. As the economy gradually reopens, these businesses need support for the additional expenditures, such as acquiring personal protective equipment (PPE), re-configuring physical storefronts or workspaces to adopt social distancing measures, and positioning themselves for a successful recovery.
